In the ever-evolving landscape of American transportation, the surge in demand for electric vehicles (EVs) is reshaping the automotive industry. As we witness the rapid growth of the electric vehicle market in the United States, the need for a skilled workforce becomes increasingly urgent.  Through its new EV Technician program, UC Santa Barbara Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE), in partnership with  George Brown College, has been developed to address the electric vehicle boom and the demand for specialized, trained professionals.

The electric vehicle sector in the United States is experiencing exponential growth, fueled by factors such as government regulations, substantial investments in EV infrastructure, manufacturer initiatives, rising consumer demand, and competitive salaries. With projections indicating a significant increase in the U.S. EV market size, individuals looking to enter the industry are presented with diverse career opportunities.

Launching in January 2023, this on-demand program, unique in North America, allows students to learn at their own pace, making it an ideal choice for working professionals, such as automotive mechanics or electricians, seeking to upgrade their skills, as well as newcomers ready to embark on a new professional journey. The program covers EV diagnosis, service, and repair using cutting-edge simulation technology. Additionally, the program places a significant emphasis on the installation and maintenance of EV charging stations, a crucial component of the industry's future.

While the U.S. mandates a transition to EVs, the development of infrastructure and skilled workers pose significant hurdles. Clean Energy projections indicate a substantial increase in EV industry employment through 2030 and beyond, underlining the urgent need for focused training and education. Individuals completing this program position themselves at the forefront of the electric revolution, contributing to the sustainable future of American transportation.
