California Credential Secondary Science or Science Teaching Experience - Materials Research Laboratory (MRL) 

California Credential secondary science or science teaching experience. Selected through the screening application process by Materials Research Laboratory (MRL). This course is designed to assist experienced teachers who have participated in a science research internship at UCSB in the creation of an innovative science curriculum that emphasizes investigative science techniques and skills and provides students with opportunities to participate in open-ended inquiry-based experiments and projects. The curriculum incorporates the California Science Standards with particular emphasis on those standards that promote problem-solving and the use of advanced technology and software.

This course engages secondary science teachers in scientific research and collaboration for the purpose of creating and introducing investigative science activities to their students and to their teaching colleagues. During this course, teachers work on a six-week research project under the supervision of a Materials Research Laboratory faculty member. Participants work with other teachers and mentors to assess their progress and identify ideas and techniques to introduce to their junior high and high school science students.
