Savannah Phelan, a former Gaucho with a BA in Psychology from UCSB, embarked on her journey in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) after graduation. Transitioning to Los Angeles, she delved into the ABA field and concurrently pursued a Master's program at National University. While working full-time in early intervention for children aged 3-12, Savannah undertook night and weekend courses, eventually becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Her professional path then led her to the school setting, where she provides supervision and support for a team of BCBAs, aiding students in integrating into inclusive classroom settings.

Since 2020, Savannah has brought her wealth of knowledge and practical experience to UCSB PaCE, teaching and shaping the future generation of BCBAs and BCaBAs. Her commitment to disseminating knowledge and supporting her students is evident in her teaching philosophy.

Savannah teaches the Verbal Behavior Course Series (VCS) at PaCE, recognizing its pivotal role in jumpstarting careers in ABA. The course not only imparts philosophical foundations but also equips students with the tools and applied knowledge essential for success in the field.

What sets PaCE apart, according to Savannah, is its unique and appealing work environment. Recognizing the demanding nature of becoming a BCaBA or BCBA, PaCE offers an innovative fully asynchronous format. This flexibility allows students to work while pursuing coursework, striking an ideal balance between academic and professional commitments. The integration of discussion posts, weekly recorded lectures, and synchronous opportunities for one-on-one meetings with instructors creates a dynamic learning environment, offering the best of both worlds.

Savannah's teaching experience at PaCE commenced in 2020, providing her with a rewarding opportunity to reconnect with her alma mater. Teaching online courses has allowed her to build relationships with students worldwide, fostering a sense of community and shared growth. Her weekly live office hours on Zoom serve as a space for meaningful connections and personalized support.

In summary, Savannah Phelan's multifaceted journey—from Gaucho alumna to accomplished BCBA and dedicated PaCE instructor—epitomizes the transformative power of education and mentorship. Through her teaching, she not only imparts knowledge but also inspires and supports the next generation of behavior analysts.
