The opioid epidemic continues to devastate families and communities, with over 100,000 lives lost annually in the U.S. The rise of synthetic opioids like fentanyl has made the crisis even more urgent. Recognizing the need for actionable solutions, UCSB PaCE has partnered with Zschool to deliver specialized training to professionals and community members on the front lines.

What’s New in the Fight Against Opioids? This partnership introduces innovative, self-paced courses tailored to meet the needs of police officers, teachers, healthcare providers, and community leaders.

Operational Readiness for Police Officers is a four-hour training program providing practical strategies for handling high-risk situations. Officers learn de-escalation techniques, the CARE approach, and how to connect individuals in crisis to appropriate resources. They are trained and equipped with the necessary resources to respond confidently to crises while minimizing risks.

With support from the $26 billion opioid settlement, UCSB PaCE and Zschool’s programs are poised to make a significant impact. These resources ensure training is accessible and effective, empowering communities to combat addiction and save lives.
