The EMT program is offered year-round, starting every quarter, with the option of an intensive summer class that covers the full program in only one quarter. Classes for 2023 are now open for enrollment, and the summer intensive course is known to fill up quickly, so be sure to enroll soon. Our EMT team of instructors is made up of highly experienced and diverse professionals, including seasoned EMTs, paramedics, firefighters, lifeguards, nurses, and emergency department technicians. The program is now expanding from 120 to 160 newly certified students per year, which is a testament to the quality of instruction and the high demand for the program. With small classes of maximum 40 students and a student-instructor ratio of 1:10, students receive personalized instruction and attention.
UCSB PaCE has expanded the program by partnering with Cottage Health Hospital for Clinical Observation Hours. This new partnership offers students a broader experience in a hospital emergency setting, in addition to their time spent on an ambulance. The program requires 24 clinical observation hours, with 12 hours spent on an AMR ambulance and 12 hours at Cottage Health locations.
The classes are taught with state-of-the-art equipment, such as high-fidelity manikins, to provide students with the highest degree of learner support. The manikins provide real-time readings of chest resistance, air flow, and visualization of air as it flows, making the learning experience both interactive and informative. Additionally, the program includes CPR Certification and MCI (Mass Casualty Incident) Drills and Vehicle Extrication, to ensure that students are well-prepared for any possible scenario, including the MCI Triage process.
UCSB PaCE is proud to announce a 91% passing rate in the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NR-EMT) exam. This high passing rate is a testament to the quality of instruction and the commitment of the instructors to ensuring that their students succeed.
